We currently have an exciting position in Dublin, CA for a Sr. Optics Design Engineer
JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Optics Design Engineer is responsible for the development of new optical instrumentation for ophthalmic applications, the support of manufacturing engineers to solve production issues, and generating new ideas for next generation products. The ideal candidate will work on various ophthalmic instrument development projects. They will develop optical concepts for new ophthalmic instruments, work on the full optical design, the requirements for the opto-mechanics, and the tooling to manufacture the instrument.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Work on various ophthalmic instrument development projects.
- Design and specify optics for engineering development.
- Interface with optical vendors and help solving optics part procurement issues.
- Interface with mechanical engineers and system engineers for product integration.
- Sustaining optical issue for production line.
REQUIREMENTS:
- PhD in Optics with three (3) years of industry experience OR MS in Optics with five (5) years of industry experience OR BS in Optics with seven (7) years of industry experience.
- Knowledge of lens design, optical testing and optical system layout are required. (Interferometry, Shack-Hartmann Test), optical coating, diffraction analysis, spectrometry, and optical system design are required.
- Must have a proven track record in performing optics research projects and be skilled in using optical design tools such as ZEMAX, CODE V., ASAP.
- Knowledge of modeling tools like MathCAD, or Maple and data analysis tools like MatLab is a plus.
- Hands-on experience in the laboratory set-up and optical testing are essential for this position.
