JOB TITLE:
Staff Software Engineer

We currently have an exciting position in Dublin, CA for a Staff Software Engineer.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Staff Software Engineer is responsible for the development of software for use in ophthalmic products, including project planning, requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing of software. Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgement within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Provides technical leadership by assigning work and resolving problems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Responsible for software requirements analysis and creation of requirements documentation. Participates in software requirements reviews and hazard analysis meetings.
  • Responsible for software high-level and detailed design, and creation of design documentation. May lead design review meetings.
  • Responsible for implementation, unit testing, and integration of testing software modules. Uses version control software. Participates in code reviews, and documents testing activities.
  • Support SQA and possibly other departments during software validation.
  • Work must be performed according to company standards. In particular, the Software Development Standard Operating Procedure (SDSOP) must be followed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Knowledge of C# / Microsoft .Net (minimum 3 years experience, 5 preferred)
  • BS in Computer Science or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Eight (8) years related experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

PREFERRED SKILLS
  • Microsoft.Net Winforms and WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation)
  • Microsoft WCF (Windows Communication Foundation)
  • Experience with Installer Technology (Install Shield)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft visual studio software development
