RE: Retinal Protection Filter (GG475) for OPMI VISU 200 on an S8 Floor Stand

As part of its ongoing efforts to improve product safety and durability, Carl Zeiss Meditec, Inc would like to remind you of the importance of using the correct retinal protection filter (GG475) when using the OPMI VISU 200 system during ophthalmic surgery.
Carl Zeiss is committed to providing its customers with the highest quality instruments. In keeping with this commitment and to prevent any possibility, however remote, that a patient could experience retinal damage, it is critical to ensure that the appropriate filter (GG475) is chosen when performing longer ophthalmic surgery.
If your Zeiss microscope features a customized configuration of the filter positions, please verify the position of the retinal protection filter and inform your staff of this customizable feature. In addition to verifying on the instrument that the correct filter is in place, the choice can be confirmed by the yellowish color of the surgical light in your microscope.
This Safety Alert is being performed with the knowledge of the Food and Drug Administration.
