Non Contact | | The IOLMaster is Carl Zeiss Meditec's innovative solution for biometric measurement and preoperative computation of intraocular lens (IOL) power. Non-contact Optical Coherence Biometry revolutionizes measurement of the ocular axis and sets new standards for speed and accuracy.
Advantages of non-contact optical biometry:
Increased accuracy
Optical biometry is precise and robust. Even with eyes not ideally formed, IOLMaster technology makes possible exact measurement of visual axis length. Its accuracy is not affected by high ametropia, pupil size or state of accommodation. The integrated OD/OS sensor eliminates the risk of confusing right and left eye data.
IOLMaster Advanced Technology
Advanced Technology simplifies operation and expands the measurement options in axial length, measurement, keratometry and anterior chamber depth measurement. With the new Advanced Technology, the overhead in user interaction is reduced. Through a new type of algorithm, the signal-to-noise ratio of the axial length measurement signal is improved, and a measurement of the axial length is possible even with relatively strong clouding of the ocular media The IOLMaster Advanced Technology with Software Version 5 is capable of measuring more patients without user intervention. The optimal measurement setting in relation to the patient is displayed through an adjustment aid in the keratometer and anterior chamber depth mode. Almost every initiation of a measurement can thus result in a valid measurement. Dependence of keratometry and anterior chamber depth on the user was further reduced. Software version 5 is available as an upgrade for all IOLMaster instruments running version 4 or later, with Windows XP. For IOLMaster instruments released prior to version 4, a preceding hardware upgrade is required. | | Highlights

IOL Constant Optimization | | Accelerated workflow
Enjoy the benefits of increased office workflow and flexibility while providing a higher level of patient comfort. IOLMaster saves valuable time and office space by integrating four measurement modalities in a single instrument. With a patient comfortably seated at one station, acquire axis length, corneal radii, white-to-white and anterior chamber depth – all the measurements needed for IOL power calculation. Results are instantly available. Clinical trials show the IOLMaster reduces by 75% the time required to gather the same measurements using traditional ultrasound and manual keratometry.
Multiple operators – same measurement results
Clinical trials show the IOLMaster produces user-independent measurement results. The system provides for storage of user-specific IOL constants and defaults.
Easy on patients – no ocular contact
Non-contact technology makes it easy on the patient: no local anesthesia, water bath, contact probe or risk of infection from patient to patient.
Great benefits right from the start
Our instrument design team took great care to provide easy, user-friendly operation. Assisted by an intuitive graphical user interface, the user can master all measuring processes in minutes. No need for costly training. Adjustment aids reduce the sources of errors.

IOL power calculation after previous refractive corneal surgery

Phakic IOL power calculation | | Enhanced cataract and phakic IOL capability
For IOL power calculation after previous refractive corneal surgery, one can derive the effective corneal power using either the clinical history method (CHM) based on historical refractive data, or the rigid contact lens over-refraction (CLO) method described by Hoffer and Holladay.
An even easier method is to use the Haigis-L biometry formula exclusively on the IOLMaster. The effective lens plane (ELP) issue does not affect this formula. It therefore permits selection of a suitable lens after myopic or hyperopic LASIK/PRK without requiring refractive pre-LASIK data or additional contact lens over-refraction.
For refractive purposes, the IOLMaster provides power calculation for secondary piggyback intraocular lenses or a selection of chamber angle-supported, iris-fixated or posterior chamber phakic implants (PIOLs).
