Frequently Asked Questions
The following questions and answers are intended to help you better understand Stratus OCT™ Instrument and Review Software version 5.0. If you have additional questions, contact your sales representative.

Q. My Stratus instrument currently has software version 3.0 (or 2.0). Can I upgrade just to 4.0?
A. The current software is version 5.0. Software version 4.0 is no longer available. When you order the new software, indicate that your instrument is currently on 3.0 (or 2.0) and you will receive the appropriate update kits. We charge a modest fee for you to receive CDs with the “Maintenance Update” portion of version 5.0.

We encourage you to also consider the “Advanced Analysis Package” portion of version 5.0. This includes advanced features in addition to the Maintenance Update. There is an additional fee for these licensed features.

Q. If I have two Stratus units, do you recommend I upgrade both to version 5.0? Why?
A. If you are using both instruments interchangeably with the same patient population and want to use the Advanced Analysis Package features such as Layer Editing Tool and GPA Advanced Serial Analysis, it would be best for you to have 5.0 on each instrument. This way you can view edited layers and track progression in the same way on each system.

Q. If I have Stratus Review Software and I upgrade my Stratus instrument to 5.0 do you recommend I upgrade my review software? Why?
A. Yes, because of the Edit Layer synchronization. In the case of Edit Layer, the technician will be able to redefine the layer segmentation at the time the scan is taken or the clinician will be able to refine it in the exam room. For a comprehensive practice this is especially true. The technician would be able to run and print Advanced Serial Analysis and let the physician perform any edit layer modifications.

For Reading Center it is especially necessary for all units to be upgraded. Edit Layer is especially valuable here and utilized by any person performing the reading and measurement of scans.

Q. My Stratus instrument currently has software version 2.0 or 3.0. How long do you estimate it will take for me to install the new software?
A. This may take approximately 20 minutes for the software upgrade process only. Depending on the size of your database, the database validation and conversion steps may take several hours. The user does not need to be present while the conversion is taking place.

Q. Who will install the software?
A. The software is intended for installation by the customer without on-site support.

Q. My Stratus instrument currently has software version 4.0. How long do you estimate it will take for me to install the new software?
A. Approximately 5-10 minutes depending on which Intel processor is in your computer.

Q. Is there enough memory on my Stratus computer to load the new software? Will the computer be slower afterwards?
A. Depending on the installed memory there should be no issue. The computer will not be slower.
